We empower youth to lead change
Our world is at a critical turning point, facing escalating challenges such as climate change, mental health crises, inequality, and poverty. What does the future hold for us? Here in Aotearoa, young people are at the forefront of driving change—a generation filled with hope and determination.
Save the Children New Zealand’s youth programme, Generation Hope NZ, offers rangatahi like you the chance to speak up, have your voices heard by decision-makers, and feel empowered to lead the way toward a brighter future.

COP Simulation September 2024
Around 20 rangatahi aged 12 to 18 recently joined a simulation of COP29, the UN’s international climate meeting, in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Hosted by Save the Children New Zealand, along with partners like the Education Partnership and Innovation Trust (EPIT), Youth Climate Collective, Gen Z Aotearoa, and Create Happy Media, the event aimed to amplify youth voices in the climate conversation.
The insights and experiences shared by these young participants will form a statement of asks to be presented to the New Zealand delegation heading to COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 11 to 22 November 2024. This statement will also contribute to a Global Child and Youth Statement being collated by Save the Children International.
