Postcards to the Prime Minister

Share a message with the leader of Aotearoa New Zealand about an issue you want to see action on.

Tamariki and rangatahi in Aotearoa New Zealand might be too young to vote, but the decisions made by politicians shape their lives every day.

This is your chance to speak up on the issues that matter most to you.

Share your message with the Prime Minister

Is there something you want to see change?

A concern about your community, your future, or your rights?

We want to hear from you, and more importantly, so does the Prime Minister.

Postcards to the Prime Minister gives young people like you an opportunity to share a message directly with our nation’s leader and share your hopes, concerns, and ideas for a better future.

If you’d like printed postcards for your class, please email education@scnz.org.nz to request a class set, please include your name, your school’s name and mailing address. These can then be posted via Freepost and we will collate them to share with the Prime Minister, and candidates for Prime Minister in the General Election 2026.

Why it matters

Young people deserve to be heard, especially on decisions that affect their futures.

While tamariki and rangatahi may not yet have a vote, their perspectives are powerful and important.

This campaign is about:

  • Amplifying youth voices
  • Raising awareness of issues affecting children and young people
  • Ensuring decision-makers listen

Together, we can make sure the voices of young people are seen, heard, and taken seriously.

Your voice can make a difference

Every postcard is a chance to inspire change. Every message helps build a stronger, more inclusive Aotearoa.
